The ladder, explained
Fitness qualifications stack. Level 2 Gym Instructing is the industry entry point — it lets you work the floor in any gym in the country. Level 3 Personal Training is the one that lets you take your own clients. From there you specialise: Level 4 Strength & Conditioning, or the nutrition route from Level 2 through to Level 4. You climb it at your own pace.
Why the setting matters
Assessments happen in a real gym with real members, not a room with no kit. You learn to coach by coaching — watched and corrected by assessors who are still on the floor every week themselves. That’s the difference between passing a course and actually being able to do the job on day one.
Who it’s for
Career-changers, people who want to go from gym-goer to coach, and existing trainers levelling up. If you’re not sure where you’d start, that’s normal — register your interest and we’ll point you to the right rung of the ladder.
Common questions
Do I need experience to start?
For Level 2 Gym Instructing, no — it’s the entry qualification. You build from there.
Are the courses accredited?
Yes — accredited by Active IQ, and taught and assessed by coaches who still work the floor.
